Program Specifics
Lesson Structure
We provide lessons to students through two interactive, evidence-based curricula. If interested, schools can select to host either our Mental Health Awareness lesson, our Substance Use and Addiction lesson, or both. The mental health curriculum focuses on depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorder, and the substance use curriculum focuses on cocaine, benzodiazepines, methamphetamine, and opioids.
- Length: Typically one class period, though length can be adjusted to fit schools’ needs and availability.
- Setting: Classroom, convocation, or virtual.
- Delivery: Interactive and engaging, including real-time polling, Q&As and quizzes.

Program Timeline
We distribute pre-tests one week before the lesson. This is to tailor our lesson to any knowledge gaps among students; if they are already informed on some particular topic, we do not want to waste their time and yours by covering it in detail.
Lessons are tailored to schools’ educational goals. If you would like us to focus on anything in particular or to avoid any more sensitive content, we’ll work with you to adjust the curriculum to fit your goals. Additionally, if you would like us to host the lesson in any particular setting, or you’d like a longer or shorter talk, we are happy to work with you to make that happen.
For both topics, we aim to provide a combination of foundational science (e.g. basic brain circuits and chemicals involved), sociocultural context, and evidence-based strategies for avoiding harm from either mental health conditions or addiction.
We will distribute post-tests after the lesson. This is for evaluation of our program.
